AFDX Library Bugfix Release
Provide a verified release of the AFDX-Library component which contains the bugfix described in PCR 5252.
Description
The AFDX-Library is a discrete component, separate and distinct from the AFDX-Driver or TDL, although both may include it. A critical bug (PCR 5252) was found in the AFDX library, and Airbus has indicated that it wants a fix for it, with a release due by the end of 2009/early 2010.
Wayne Schultz is the current customer contact for this project.
Current Status
The bugfix has already been implemented and thoroughly tested by the customer. What remains to do is the documentation work and re-verification activities.
Risks
It's been awhile since anyone has touched the AFDX code, and those that have are no longer reachable, so the method used for previously testing is not currently know.
It is not known whether the old test harness will work in our current environment without considerable rework. It could be we need to upgrade to the latest test harness.
Potential cost saving approaches
While it's desireable to upgrade our build and test infrastructure to the latest incarnation, the code and documentation change is so minimal it may not be worthwhile to incur the cost on this iteration IF the costs of getting the current test harness implementation working. It could be that reuse of the old test harness is more expensive, so some analysis on which approach is required.
