Provide Deos training, as well as technical, and certification support to BRGA and ALT Software in Canada as a means to support the AFGS_Program.

Description

This project consists of a combination of onsite training at ALT facilities, onsite technical support and consulting, and remote technical support and consulting.

News

  • 2007-02-08: Bill & Mike to join Harshad on-site at ALT the week of 2007-02-19 for the following: 1) Boot performance integration (SW COE); 2) PAL performance integration (SW COE); 3) CFFS integration (SW COE & Harshad); 4) Registry/Slack based performance improvements (Harshad & SW COE).
  • 2007-01-15: Mike Horgan to provide on-site support at Deer Valley for the flight test *tiger team* effort.
  • 2006-11-06: Mike Horgan to provide on-site support at ALT primarily for the integration of the SFS (see SFS_on_AFGS_Project). Apps integrated with SFS.
  • 2006-10-29: Bill Cronk to provide on-site support at ALT primarily for the integration of the SFS (see SFS_on_AFGS_Project). SFS up and running.
  • 2006-07-28: Shipped them (via ftp to their ftp site) the updated files which were released since their training to allow them to debug shared libraries on their x86 platforms. It appears that they have a unix/linux (or some variation thereof) box on which their public ftp site is running. Maybe Bill can talk to them about us rsyncing our cygwin release tree to that site so that they can get the updates. That may be easier than shipping them updates on DVD's.
  • 2006-04-24: Training has taken place at ALT facilities.
  • 2006-04-12: ALT has indicated that they'll use the DESK provided GNU/gcc toolchain. Also, to support Deos engineers being able to offer remote technical support assistance, they are looking into getting an account from GoToMeeting.
  • 2006-04-11: The make files for the class exercises are being re-worked, by user:stephen.smith@honeywell.com, to be platform independent (like the Desk examples) so moving between the potential training platforms can be done easily.
  • 2006-04-10: Talked to Bill Marshall. They will have ten students. Plan A is to use VMware on student workstations. If that doesn't pan out, we'll use the two (2) AFGS platforms they have onsite. Hopefully, some student workstations will run VMware sufficiently well for training; otherwise, students will need to share AFGS targets. Bill noted that they currently only have a connector to the AFGS "maintenance board" for one AFGS target, hence even though they have two physical platforms, only one is operational (they hope to have this remedied by training time). As a backup plan, I recommend the Deos trainers bring their AFGS cables and Mac Minis with them. Perhaps a combination of VMware, AFGS platforms, and Mac minis will provide a sufficient target to student ratio.
  • 2006-03-20: Bill Marshall mailto:bill.marshall@altsoftware.com has sent this message: "I have the room confirmed for the third week of April, so we are good to go on our side. If you need any help with travel please do not hesitate to let me know."

  • If the ALT and/or BRGA team feels it cost effective or necessary that activities listed in the Remote Support category occur on-site at their facility, the Deos team will be ready and willing to accommodate this request.

  • On-site review and audit support: Deos team members will travel to the review or audit in order to relieve the ALT and/or BRGA team from the defense burden of Deos Software Life Cycle Data (SLCD) as well as relieving the ALT team from the defense burden of any SLCD (Deos or otherwise) generated as a result of following guidance (documented or otherwise) provided by the Deos team.

Note: Original estimate was for two people for two weeks (four person weeks). Year-to-date we have spent three person weeks and expect four more (which includes the upcoming two people for the week of 2007-02-19).
