Best Practices

The suggestions provided here are just that; they are not required by DO-178C standard, but provide suggestions that may (for example) promote consistency within documentation, reduce development/review time, or provide clarification.

General

• If unsure about a software development process/procedure, always ask a mentor first!

Documentation

• Adding xrefs (links) to referenced documents: always add a link to the first reference to a document in each section of the document being created. If a section is large (e.g., more than 1 page in the viewer) the developer may choose to add additional links to the same document to make it easy on the reader.
