Proposal for capturing referenced documents in the cert archive. See PCR:5545 and PCR:6704 for details and background information on this issue.

Objectives for Process Improvement

  1. Complies with DO-178B requirement that requirements (traceable docs) be stored in the cert archive. From the SDVP (section 2.2.2.2): The associated requirements/architecture is an identified configuration item that has been reviewed and approved.
  2. Enables electronic versions of additional referenced documents to be captured in a DDC-I repository (library) that is not accessible to customers, and not included in customer distributions; these documents do not include trace tags for the component, but are informational/important to the component's design.
  3. Provides a way to catalog hard copied versions of additional referenced documents and books.

Implementation Proposal

  1. For traceable docs: Use the Uplink Docs in the Review Summary report only for requirements docs that have been reviewed and accepted; consider renaming this section to "Requirements Docs". Also continue to use the Draft Docs section for requirements docs that have not been reviewed and accepted; follow the steps for [Draft References]. Consider renaming this section to "Draft Reqs Docs". All requirements documents are captured in the component's bibliography and cert archive in section 11-14-verf-results/reviews/references for the component under review.
  2. For referenced documents and books: capture document/book name/title and version number/ISBN in a new section of the Review Summary report called "References". Place copies of electronic documents in the DDC-I "library", which is located in development tree of subversion (a single directory). Create a README within section 11-14-verf-results/reviews/references for the component under review, that provides a list of additional documents which are located in the electronic library; for books, include a description of the book's physical location (eg. Richard's desk). All referenced docs/books are captured in the component's bibliography.
  3. Add an item to the Requirements checklists to verify that all items in the component's bibliography are located in the cert archive (for traceable docs) or the DDCI library (for referenced docs).
