Overview

The How To provides a central point for accessing those industry standards important to to the DDC-I team.

ARINC

ARINC is a private company, now owned by Rockwell Collins. The Aviations standards portion is now part of SAE. The aviation industry standards are developed through AEEC (Airlines Electronic Engineering Committee) working groups. ARINC charges for each document and the cost is typically based on the size of the document with electronic copies of most documents ranging from $100-250. ARINC also offers a corporate sponsorship which is dependent upon the revenue of the company. In 2019, DDC-I renewed its corporate sponsorship, allowing direct employees free downloads of documents.

The terms of downloading documents are:

Create an account with the ARINC Store

  1. Go to www.aviation-ia.com
  2. Click the Register link to create a new User Account
  3. Fill in the following requested information:
  4. E-mail address: Use your @ddci.com e-mail address
  5. Edit your Main Profile and fill in the following:
    • First Name and Last Name should be obvious on how to fill out
    • Company Name: DDC-I Inc
  6. Wait for a confirmation e-mail from SAE to verify your e-mail address
  7. From your normal DDCI e-mail account, send the following email:
    • To: industry.activities@sae-itc.org
    • Subject: Account Benefits Link DDC-I Inc
    • Body: Please link my account [yourusername@ddci.com] to the benefits of my company, DDC-I Inc.
  8. Wait for the email response indicating that your account is now setup to access documents free of charge.

Access to the ARINC Store Web Site

  1. Go to www.aviation-ia.com
  2. Login to your account.
  3. Click on the Store link.
  4. Click on "View Documents" link within the ARINC Standards box.
  5. Navigate to the series of interest, or use the search box
  6. If your account has been enabled with the benefits of the DDC-I sponsorship, documents can be added to the cart showing a 0.00 price.
  7. Follow the steps to checkout, which will then allow you to download the documents ordered.

  • NOTE: The most recent version of the standard is available in the store. Have not looked at getting older supplements of the standards.

RTCA

RTCA is a private, not-for-profit corporation that develops consensus-based recommendations regarding communications, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management (CNS/ATM) system issues. RTCA functions as a Federal Advisory Committee. Its recommendations are used by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as the basis for policy, program, and regulatory decisions and by the private sector as the basis for development, investment and other business decisions.

As a member company, DDC-I has access to free electronic copies of RTCA documents, such as DO-178C. Please note that permission is not given to post RTCA documents on the DDC-I intranet.

Access to the RTCA Store Web Site

  1. Go to RTCA
  2. Click LOG IN or go directly to RTCA Community Hub
    1. If you have an account, enter your e-mail address and password.
    2. Otherwise, create an account by selecting Don't have an account?
      Edit your profile (Personal Snapshot) to add company (My Companies) and Link to My Company.
      1. Company is "DDC-I Inc" If you also see "DDC-I, Inc." that is an inactive membership.
  3. Click on the Store link in the header to go to the online store
    1. You should be able to search for a document, select the electronic copy, and click Add to Cart, and see a Member Price of 0.00.
    2. Select Checkout. You will be prompted to review the electronic terms. DDC-I's membership falls in the category of 30 unique documents.
    3. Once completed, you will receive an email with a link and password to download the document.
